About The Position

As the Editorial Manager for Scripture Products, you will help advance American Bible Society’s strategic goals in Scripture Engagement and Bible advocacy. As part of the Content Development team, you will apply your background in biblical and historical theology, communications skills, and project management training to collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to create new audience-focused, Bible-based multimedia products for ABS delivery platforms. This role emphasizes serving teen and young adult audiences in the United States, and expanding ABS content offerings to support churches. You will have opportunities to write and present content in person, in podcasts, and through the ABS learning management system. You will also help establish and implement processes to track content development and ensure quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in theology or biblical studies or the equivalent work experience.
  • Project management experience in an editorial or creative environment, 2+ years (PMP helpful but not required).
  • Excellent grammar, writing, and presentation skills
  • Basic editorial skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Bible, biblical themes, and historic interpretation of the Bible
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Christianity and Christian history and interconfessional awareness
  • Ability to design courses in an in-person or virtual environment
  • Experience working within an LMS environment
  • Basic understanding of adult learning theory, instructional models, and assessment strategies (experience with coursework for teens and young adults helpful but not required)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of editorial strategies aligned to ABS goals and audience needs, helping create content that introduces audiences to the Bible and encourages deeper engagement over time
  • Develop content adapted to the interests and needs of target demographics, especially teens and young adults, in a variety of media formats (written lessons, short videos, podcasts, interviews, reading plans, etc.) that help people take their next steps with the Bible and deepen their excitement, connection, and confidence about the Bible
  • Assist in overseeing the expansion of ABS’s content offerings for traditional Christian communions (e.g., Catholic and Orthodox).
  • Write and publish content that respects and highlights the hermeneutical, liturgical, and theological resources and heritages of different communions as they interact with the Bible.
  • Represent ABS content publicly, as assigned in alignment with ABS messaging, through video courses, podcasts, conferences, and other outlets
  • Provide product support as assigned (print, audio, video) with content pitched at multiple levels of complexity for target audiences
  • Work with the Content Development team in an editing process that ensures clarity, consistency, and accuracy of published content
  • Manage contract writers and contributors as assigned in accordance with ABS content development standards
  • Collaborate as assigned with other ABS departments on content publishing goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with ABS partners.
  • Collaborate with ABS project managers and IT services to establish a product development system to track projects from proposals to final evaluation.
  • Provide project management support for Content Development team and maintain thorough tracking and analytics for publication projects throughout their life cycle
  • Manage multiple multimedia projects as assigned
  • Provide subject matter expertise in historical theology and specific church doctrines to ensure product fit and interconfessional awareness. Provide guidance in communicating deep concepts in accessible ways.
  • Assist with planning interdisciplinary academic and public thought conferences and oversee the subsequent adaptation of conference materials into accessible content (reading plans, coursework, videos) tuned for target audiences (including church leaders and those new to the Bible).
