About The Position

AFPA is seeking a highly detail-oriented and learner-centered Editorial Manager to oversee the development, quality, and consistency of all student-facing educational content. This role is responsible for translating subject-matter expertise into engaging, accurate, and user-friendly learning experiences across AFPA’s course portfolio. Serving as the editorial and instructional design lead, the Editorial Manager owns the end-to-end content lifecycle—from curriculum planning and asset development through final editorial review, course build, and platform deployment. This role partners closely with AFPA content leads, contributors, education leadership, and shared services teams to ensure courses meet AFPA brand standards, instructional best practices, and learner expectations.

  • Proficiency with Rise Articulate and familiarity with Thinkific and Brillium.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple courses and deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in editorial management, instructional design, or educational content development.
  • Experience working with subject-matter experts and content contributors.

  • Experience in online education, certification programs, or continuing education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead instructional design efforts to create engaging, learner-centered educational experiences aligned to target audiences and program objectives.
  • Plan course asset development timelines and manage projects from concept through final delivery.
  • Apply final, approved assets to courses and products, ensuring readiness for launch.
  • Conduct final editorial review of all educational content prior to publication.
  • Build all AFPA education courses in Rise, including editing, writing, and structuring content for optimal learning flow.
  • Edit and refine content provided by AFPA content leads and contributors.
  • Write original educational content as needed to support course objectives.
  • Design course structure, lesson flow, interactivity, and learner experience.
  • Ensure consistency of style, tone, and formatting across modules and lessons.
  • Select and apply appropriate course imagery in alignment with AFPA brand standards.
  • Create and design slide decks for course presentations.
  • Collaborate with content leads and contributors to convert raw content into polished, instructionally effective slide decks.
  • Edit content for clarity, instructional effectiveness, and visual design.
  • Verify reference accuracy and formatting, including APA style compliance.
  • Create, design, and edit course handouts and supporting materials.
  • Manage CE courses and coordinate with shared services teams to transfer content to KONE as needed.
  • Review courses after export to Thinkific to ensure accurate flow, functionality, and learner experience.
  • Edit and enter quizzes and assessments in Rise and Brillium.
  • Ensure all educational content aligns with AFPA brand guidelines.
  • Create and edit transcripts for all video presentations, ensuring accuracy and alignment with final edited videos.
  • Match timestamps appropriately and format transcript handouts according to AFPA style guidelines.
  • Support accessibility and usability best practices across course assets.
  • Collaborate closely with AFPA’s education team on course content, design, and program direction.
  • Edit course descriptions, learning objectives, and instructor bios for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Partner with the Content Marketing Manager to review and edit AFPA product pages.
  • Provide recommendations on course titles, imagery, and positioning to support marketing and learner engagement goals.
