Under the supervision of the Curator of Animals, the Education Interpreter is responsible for: Greet Zoo guests in an inviting manner. Prepare and sell appropriate animal food items according to directions. Observe animal/guest interactions and take the necessary steps to stop and/or correct problems. Handle cash and cash transactions reliably. Check messages and work schedule at start of shift. Keep all assigned areas and work spaces clean and "visitor friendly". Prepare assigned areas before public arrives. Clean assigned area at end of business day to established standards. Stay current on Zoo events and information to share with guests and to be able to answer questions. Wear proper designated uniform. Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; support all aspects of the Park District's safety program; Perform all other duties as required. Essential Functions: Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Ability to operate two-way radio. Ability to communicate with zoo guests
