The EEG Technician performs medical testing procedures including routine electroencephalograms, ambulatory EEGs, and long-term epilepsy monitoring. The technologist is responsible for recording valid and interpretable data arising from the brain. Performs routine EEG testing, evoked potentials, video and monitoring studies in assigned areas. Transfers EEG files and events, prepares printouts, and transcribes digital EEG to hard copy and logs. Scans ambulatory time samples, events, and seizure files. Prepares test results and data records for physicians Interpretation. Performs procedures for disinfection and sterilization and monitors the effect of these procedures. Maintains and periodically inspects technical accuracy of recording equipment. Establishes rapport with patient and patient's family. Collaborates with other hospital personnel. Documents concise, pertinent, and legible information on the patient's medical record. Implements alternative methods to obtain optimal recording, and recognizes artifacts and documents, eliminates and/or monitors them. Applies electrodes and hooks up patient to equipment according to lab standards. Participates in the clinical teaching of respiratory care students from affiliated programs. All other duties as assigned.
