About The Position

The EHS & Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance programs across data center facilities operations. This role ensures safe execution of critical operations, compliance with applicable laws and standards, and continuous risk reduction in mission-critical environments. The position partners closely with the Critical Facilities Managers and Human Resources to maintain operational excellence while protecting personnel, infrastructure, and uptime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience), plus 10–15 years in data center/critical facilities management with 5+ years in multi-site leadership.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mission-critical systems including electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, mechanical/HVAC systems, fire suppression, and BMS platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and capital expenditures.
  • Proven leadership ability with strong communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and data-driven performance metrics.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain site and/or regional EHS programs aligned with OSHA and local regulatory requirements and NFPA 70E, 70B, 75, 76, 101 and 850 (where applicable).
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and field observations.
  • Establish Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments framework for critical operations and ensure sites are adhering.
  • Track and investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
  • Review incident investigations and corrective action plans (CAPAs).
  • Maintain compliance with customer training, security and contractual requirements
  • Develop and own compliance with applicable certifications and frameworks, including: ISO 45001, ISO 14001 (where applicable) and SOC.
  • Support internal and external audits; manage findings to closure
  • Ensure alignment between corporate standards and site execution
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting data center operations
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for operations and Maintenance staff
  • Promote a strong safety culture through leadership engagement and field presence
  • Coach leaders and supervisors on safe work practices and accountability
  • Lead safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Audit environmental compliance related to: fuel storage and handling, spill prevention and response and waste management and hazardous materials
  • Support sustainability initiatives and reporting as required
  • Ensure regulatory and safety compliance, maintain required documentation and enforce environmental and security standards including all applicable NFPA, OSHA standards and local codes.
