The Shoreline Power Group is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon & Atkins Realis located in Kincardine, Ontario. Shoreline Power Group is the centerpiece of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) program which replaces the main components of 6 reactors at the Bruce Power Nuclear Generating Station. The scope of work includes the removal and replacement of calandria tubes, pressure tubes, and feeders as well as construction management and trade labor. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has been awarded contracts for Unit 5, 7, and 8 for steam generator replacements as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project. This 18 months co-op offers an opportunity for an Environment Student to gain hands-on experience. Reporting to the Environment Specialist, the EHS Co-op Student will provide essential support to the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Human Performance team, contributing to key projects and assisting with daily operational tasks. Your role Conduct monitoring and inspections of areas to verify compliance with federal and provincial environmental & safety regulations, project environmental & safety management plans and Project Agreements. Monitor the effectiveness of mitigation measures, best management practices and corrective actions installed or implemented by construction and provide feedback to the Environment Specialist & EHS/HU Team. Provide multi-project EHS technical support for the EHS Program at all project sites. Assist in development and roll-out of EHS communications across work sites, construction staff, contractors, and management teams. Document and report on environmental and safety conditions, observations, and non-compliances during site walkdowns and EHS incidents to the Management Team and support development of corrective actions. Assist in generating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and other documentation. Support the development of environmental & safety documents such as standard operating procedures, work instructions and dashboards. Assist in any start up for new work areas or projects, including providing all the necessary templates and documentation that will be required for reporting and program maintenance purposes. Support Internal & External Environmental / EHS audits. Support Human Performance program activities. Proactively identify improvements for team processes and tools. Other duties as required. Fiscal responsibility: Fiscal responsibility as required by the Joint Venture agreement. Extent of public contact: Customers, suppliers, JV Partners. Project Managers, project personnel, estimating personnel. Trades personnel, union business agents. Physical demands: Various work locations in both field and office. Travel as necessary. Work in respirator and plastics (as required). Radiological environments. Able to climb ladders, if required.
