About The Position

SUMMARY The co-op student will be working on job assignments related to their functional EH&S discipline. These increasingly challenging assignments will provide foremost an effective learning assignment and then a sound intellectual and/or financial return for the PCC organization while meeting all federal, state, & local compliance requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Apply principles that he or she has learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and product design and improvement from an EH&S standpoint. Will work with the hourly workforce to address day-to-day safety concerns. Develop & improve material handling issues throughout the facility. Work with outside vendors and consultants to eliminate lifting injuries. Investigate all facility accidents & injuries to develop corrective actions. Perform weekly inspections for hazardous waste, Identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects relating to EH&S discipline. Review and analyze PPE requirements for the various departments and process related functions. Attend regular departmental safety meetings and monthly union safety committee meeting. Attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities. Take ownership and responsibility for identified EH&S projects on the manufacturing floor. Develop and refine EH&S and emergency response procedures for the facility. Perform new hire safety training and orientation. Participate on teams for assigned projects to analyze improvements, new product applications, and develop requirements with the team to ensure compliance with applicable EH&S regulations. Oversee all aspects of hazardous waste including disposal and reduction of waste generated. Work to reduce all forms waste generated, increase recycling, and reduce disposal cost. Perform job risk analysis for various processes and task. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Good writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or MBA.
  • Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Knowledge of EH&S engineering practices, IH sampling, regulatory compliance for OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, & NEC.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access
