We are seeking an experienced EH&S Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs within the plant. This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations, promoting safe work practices, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the workforce. The position involves conducting safety audits, inspections, assisting in incident investigations, providing safety training, and supporting environmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment, preferably in an EHS-related role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, and other federal/state/local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify hazards.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including conducting safety inspections and carrying safety equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with employees and management.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills to address safety concerns and resolve issues effectively.
  • Requires the ability to drive a passenger vehicle and transport passengers as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Routine Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect work areas, equipment, and processes for compliance with EHS regulations and company policies. Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Enforce Safety Standards: Ensure workers follow proper PPE usage, safety protocols, and safe work practices. Report any unsafe conditions to supervisors or EHS management.
  • Incident Reporting & Investigation: Assist in investigating workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents. Ensure proper reporting and documentation of all incidents. Assist in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety Training: Assist in delivering safety training programs for new hires and existing employees. Topics may include but are not limited to PPE usage, fire safety, ergonomics, emergency response, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Compliance with OSHA: Ensure workplace practices align with OSHA regulations and safety standards. Stay updated on changes to OSHA rules and help implement them.
  • Safety Team Shift Leader: The EHS Technician will be responsible for leading Safety Team meetings, supporting its members, and providing tools and resources for safety team initiatives on their shift.
  • Waste Management: Assist in the proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste according to environmental regulations. Maintain accurate records of waste disposal and recycling activities.
  • Spill Response: Be trained and ready to respond to spills or leaks of hazardous materials. Ensure the timely and correct cleanup of any hazardous materials and report the incident as required.
  • Environmental Audits: Help conduct regular environmental audits of the facility, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations such as air, water, and waste management laws.
  • Maintain EHS Records: Keep accurate records of inspections, audits, training, incident reports, and other safety-related documentation. Ensure that all records are updated regularly and stored in compliance with company policies.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Assist with preparing and submitting reports to regulatory bodies (e.g., OSHA, EPA) as required.
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Ensure that Safety Data Sheets for chemicals are up-to-date, readily accessible, and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain an inventory of safety equipment, materials, and supplies such as PPE, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check and ensure that safety equipment is in good working condition and schedule replacements or maintenance as necessary.
  • Assist with Audits & Inspections: Support internal and external audits of the facility’s EHS programs and practices.
  • Program Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of safety improvement initiatives and programs. Provide feedback to EHS management on areas needing attention or improvement.
  • Employee Engagement: Support initiatives to engage employees in safety practices, such as safety meetings, safety incentives, and employee feedback surveys.
  • LEAN/Continuous Improvement Support: The EHS technician will be adequately trained and responsible to utilize company CI tools and initiatives for any EHS related improvements. i.e. Utilizing graphics printers, or labeling machines for signs and/or 5S improvements.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments (Production, Maintenance, HR, etc.) to ensure EHS protocols are being followed across the organization.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Support the development and execution of emergency response drills, including fire evacuations, first-aid responses, and other emergency procedures.
  • Ad-hoc Tasks: Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
