THIS IS AN ONSITE DAILY REQUIRED POSITION. The Opportunity This position works out of our Scottsdale location in the CRM Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. What You'll Work On Main Purpose of this Role Implement and maintain AV policies and EHS procedures to ensure compliance with all Abbott, local, state and federal health and safety standards. · Research, determine applicability and implement plan for compliance with health and safety regulations · Provide EHS employee training · Conduct EHS inspections, assist with implementation of corrective actions and track observations to closure Serve as center of expertise in Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, Contractor Safety, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, Electrical Safety, Biological Safety, Working at Heights, Machine Guarding, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and Ergonomics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree and a minimum of 5 years of related EHS work experience or an equivalent combination of education and EHS work experience.
  • A good understanding of specified functional area.
  • 5-7 years of experience in health and safety
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with all EHS permits and licenses required for Abbott site operations.
  • Assists in the identification of potential EHS risks and consequences of new and modified processes/systems/regulations and takes appropriate action.
  • Formulate, implement, manage and improve ALL programs related with the Environmental, Health and Safety scopes.
  • Organizational Interface: Establishes contacts with immediate supervisor, project leaders, and other professionals.
  • Prepares written communication.
  • Conveys information effectively through formal and informal documents and meetings with team members, both internal and external to Abbott, using appropriate communication protocols, e.g. develops proposals. conducts reviews. provides audience targeted content. Prepares project summaries.
  • Obtains approval to proceed with proposed action plans.
  • Contributes willingly and incorporates the ideas of others.
  • Shares resources, knowledge, and accountability to benefit the objectives of the business, understands own limitations.
  • Establish and build relationships, good communication and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Initiates and cultivates open, professional relationships with stakeholders by establishing rapport, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals, and following through on commitments.
  • Responsible for and has the authority to ensure the Environmental Management system is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with the requirements of ISO14001.
  • Review and maintain SDS database and site chemical inventories.
  • Review new hazardous materials and check incoming materials for SDS, unique usage and storage characteristics.
  • Works with end use to ensure proper usage and disposal.
  • Provides guidance as necessary.
  • Supports EHS management in the maintenance of the facility’s Emergency Response and Fire Plans.
  • Inspect and procure emergency response and disaster preparedness materials and equipment.
  • On-call for EHS emergencies (24/7)
  • Coordinates the monitoring for employee exposure to chemical and other toxic substances, including performing Industrial Hygiene sampling and supporting the activities of contracting Industrial Hygienist, chemical spill remediation specialist, and other safety consultants as required.
  • Investigate EHS incidents and their prevention.
  • Ensures that the required EHS training is provided for Abbott employees in a timely fashion.
  • Provides training for specific EHS programs.
  • Develops and maintains procedures and standards.
  • Coordinates with technical support personnel to conduct EHS assessments.
  • Directs the efforts of others such as technicians and outside resources.
  • Performs tasks such as assisting in the completion of Requests for Capital Expenditures (RCEs), EHS checklists, project scope documents, risk assessments, etc.
  • Assists in the resolution of EHS problems.
