About The Position

The EHS Specialist position participates in and leads initiatives to provide for the safety, health, and environmental requirements of the employees. The position ensures all employees are trained in safety components relating to their position. The specialist reports to the Manager, EHS and works to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for all employees, equipment, and operations. The role reduces workers’ compensation exposure through accident investigation and proactive accident reduction techniques. This position reports to the Corporate Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Director.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of equivalent education/safety experience.
Related safety engineering certifications.
Five years of safety engineering experience

Responsibilities

Implements safety and accident prevention policies in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations; maintains stocks of safety equipment.
Conducts and records safety training, and demonstrates the use of safety equipment.
Investigates accidents to identify cause and determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future; maintains accident and incident records
Serve in an advisory capacity to management and as a liaison with external agencies and internal and external stakeholders.
Ensures compliance with permit requirements, , and carries out correspondence with other department/entities (internal or external) as required.
Represents the company in community and industry safety groups, programs, and conferences.
Keeps abreast of current developments of training, safety, accident prevention programs, and applicable regulations
Updates internal policies and procedures as needed.
