About The Position

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all site-level environmental, health, and safety programs. This role is accountable for championing a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering shared ownership of safety performance among employees and leaders. The EHS Specialist partners cross-functionally with production leadership, HR, and senior management to embed safety excellence into daily operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and long-term strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience or influence in a safety-related capacity.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; CSP, CHMM, or CIH preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, driving engagement and accountability at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate safety expectations and outcomes clearly.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and results-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence the development and implementation of comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Serve as a safety leader and coach, guiding supervisors, leads, and employees in understanding their EHS responsibilities and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses, identifying potential hazards and driving timely corrective actions through collaboration and leadership engagement.
  • Lead or facilitate incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions are implemented and communicated across the site.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate engaging EHS training programs for all employees, including onboarding, annual refreshers, and targeted skill-based safety modules.
  • Partner with operations leadership to integrate EHS initiatives into Kaizen events, daily management systems, and Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Manage environmental compliance activities including waste management, hazardous materials handling, air emissions, and sustainability reporting.
  • Collect, analyze, and present EHS performance metrics to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for risk reduction and performance improvement.
  • Act as the site liaison for regulatory agencies, auditors, and corporate EHS teams during inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Serve as an EHS culture ambassador, promoting employee engagement, recognition, and participation in safety committees, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement programs.
