About The Position

Tarkett has a great opportunity for a EHS Specialist (Dalton, GA) We are looking for an EHS Specialist to join our talented team. This role will help develop, establish, and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related injuries / illnesses, using a behavioral based approach. This position will be based in our Kraft location, and will report to the EHS Manager. Your skills we value: Assists with all aspects of the Environmental Health and Safety program. Assist in ensuring compliance to all Safe Work Practices (SWP), regulatory standards (EPA, OSHA, NFPA, etc.) and plant policies and procedures. Conduct training/assessments/audits/investigations as an important part of the World Class Manufacturing management system Assist with the ISO 14001 / 18001 EHS requirements and audit process for continued certification Formulate and deliver safety training presentations and training for both small and large audiences, hourly and salaried. Deliver EHS orientation to new and temporary associates. Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to plant EHS policies and procedures involving contractor / vendor personnel. Perform, document, and trend behavioral-safety observations. Analyze data and perform trending analysis in order to identify and implement corrective actions as well as develop strategic risk mitigation strategies. Assist in maintaining assorted databases and software programs in support of the EHS Department and Plant EHS initiatives. Aid in the completion of the Plant’s monthly and annual reports Help conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed. Help research safety equipment for its application and purchase. Assist in personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and trials as well as to ensure its proper use, maintenance and storage. Assist in workers compensation claim management and return to work programs. Serve as an EHS Champion in furthering “Safety First” culture. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing and/or EHS roles preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in Safety and Industrial Hygiene in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of all OSHA and EPA (ADEM) regulations.
  • Knowledge of Tier II and FORM R reporting, Air permitting, and hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation law.
  • Knowledge of light duty / return to work programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to include technical writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentations skills are essential.
  • Must be able to interact well at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced computer skills are essential – Microsoft Office environment.
  • To be able to work irregular hours including evening and weekends to accommodate the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • To spend significant time working on the plant floor.
  • To work irregular hours to ensure evening and weekend presence on the shop floor
