About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) supervisor will be responsible for training employees on health and workplace safety, hazardous waste, and other occupational and environmental topics. The supervisor will contribute to developing and setting SBM’s health and safety goal; and implement and maintain on-site safety, environment, and emergency management programs and policies that assure compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental safety, occupational safety, or a related scientific field is required
  • Experience with (and knowledge of) the statutory and regulatory requirements for the state of employment is preferred
  • Experience researching and interpreting regulations for their specific industry are needed, as is traveling to work sites
  • Experience is needed in training groups and interacting well with employees, clients, and regulatory personnel
  • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in health physics or industrial hygiene is often preferred

Responsibilities

  • Routinely manage classroom and on-site safety training programs
  • Work with various employees to ensure all employees receive the appropriate safety training for the work they perform
  • Investigate and monitor accidents and incidents involving security issues, fire, hazardous materials, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance issues
  • Assure corrective action recommendations properly addresses necessary procedural changes for the prevention of incidents in the future
  • Work in various settings (both indoor and outdoor) depending on training needs and work sites
  • Work with departments to set and reach safety goals, including training
  • Inspect and assess work areas, equipment, and processes for safety
  • Evaluate and inspect worksites and the workplace to ensure all applicable safety laws are followed
  • Understand and document compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Keeps current with emerging regulatory compliance issues and trends
  • Lead incident response policy development, training, and implementation
  • May need to work irregular hours as required
