Hospital services include cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. In early 2014, Texas Health Fort Worth will be opening a new 75,000 square foot Emergency Services Center, one of the largest in the region. Texas Health Fort Worth has more than 4,000 employees, 200 volunteers and nearly 1,000 physicians on its medical staff. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req
  • ECG monitoring and knowledge of ECGs; computer skills; communication skills; high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year in health care environment involving direct patient care preferred
  • CCT - Certified Cardiographic Technician 6 Months Pref Or
  • NCET - Nationally Certified ECG Technician 6 Months Pref

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the continuity of patient care using communication tools and electronic medical record.
  • Identify patient using two patient identifiers.
  • Explain procedures to patient and obtain patient consents.
  • Ensure exam room is fully stocked and in order before patient arrival.
  • Provides assistance to patient according to procedure being performed.
  • Appropriately respond to patients in distress.
  • Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
  • Assists in admission/transfer discharge.
  • Produces quality resting electrocardiograms (ECG) and ambulatory ECGs following department policies and procedures.
  • Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • Adapts care to reflect patient population and incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
  • Improve understanding of procedures performed according to patient with consideration of potential language barriers.
  • Utilizes equipment properly through training and knowledge of when to seek outside assistance for identified problems/education with manager approval.
  • Ensure timely repairs of equipment beginning with notification of Biomed and/or manager as needed and making sure unsafe/inoperable equipment is removed and properly tagged per hospital policy as to prevent further use.
  • Maintains and enhances patient care skills.
  • Seeks assistance and supervision when performing unfamiliar tasks.
  • Serves as a patient advocate.
  • Complies with personnel policies. (Attendance, ID badge, Dress code, et. al)
  • Follow infection control standards per hospital policy/guidelines.
  • Communicates per department expectations.
  • Recognizes and promptly communicates ethical and legal concerns through established channels of communication.
  • Assist with the instruction of new hires in the proper technique of performing ECGs and completion of ECG competency within hospital
  • Assists in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and takes action to improve them.
  • Participates in the process improvement activities within the department/hospital.
  • Improve the quality of customer service, and professional development.
  • Improve communication and professional development.
  • Meet unit requirements for Patient Safety Observation.
  • Assists and participates with Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patient's families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.
  • Adapts to changing needs of department re: patient census, workload, and crisis situations.
  • Functions as Mentor/Resource in the training and evaluation of practice partners as requested.
  • Acceptable use of interpersonal relationship skills with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, all disciplines, and other customers.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and adheres to business etiquette when interacting with customers and peers.
  • Flexible with scheduling to help meet departmental/patient needs.
  • Adapts to changes in workload assignment to meet changing needs of the individual patient and or unit.
  • Organizes work in partnership with team members.
