About The Position

Elections Specialist (Full time/Temporary) Position Posted: Wednesday, March 11, 2026 Deadline to Apply: Friday, March 27, 2026 at 8am In person interviews: Thursday, April 16, 2026 Expected Start Date: May 11, 2026 Details Full Time (Temporary/Seasonal Status), non-exempt $27- $31.50/hour, depending on qualifications Reports to City Clerk Located at Eden Prairie City Center, (8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie) Position will run May-November 2026. Typical business hours are Monday- Friday, 8am-4:30pm. Hours will increase during elections in the evenings and weekends to accommodate business needs. This position is overtime eligible. Responsibilities The Elections Specialist will support the City Clerk in the administration of elections. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are: Answers questions of the public as they relate to voter registration and elections; maintains current knowledge of election laws and process. Assists in overall administration of City-run elections; assists in the absentee voting process; maintains election judge data; tests and prepares election equipment. Assists in the recruitment, training, and assignments of election judges; updates training materials as needed. Assists with polling place coordination and preparation of precinct supplies. Assists with maintenance and development of web pages and other communication materials associated with Elections. Provides back-up assistance to the Support Services Division by providing excellent customer service at the information desk, both in person and on the phone. While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of administrative office experience, including providing customer service, required.
  • High School Degree required (or GED equivalent)
  • Proficiency in MS Word required
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends to accommodate business needs.
  • Physical effort is light for most work with lifting or carrying limited to 25 pounds intermittently.
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment. Pre-employment processes for this position includes professional reference checks, work verification, background check, drivers license check.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous elections administration experience in a government role, such as election worker, absentee/early voting worker, or other related experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred.
  • State Voter Registration System Experience preferred.
