About The Position

IES Residential is seeking skilled and experienced Electric Service Technicians to join our growing Service Organization in and around Greensboro, North Carolina. This role requires strong technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential environments, including both new construction and occupied homes. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of NEC codes, places a high priority on safety, and delivers exceptional customer service. As a front-line representative of IES Residential, the Electric Service Technician is expected to uphold the company’s commitment to professionalism, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Electric Service Technician or Residential Service Electrician.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and diagnose residential electrical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC codes and electrical compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professionalism.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to residential job sites throughout the Greensboro, NC area.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to scheduled and emergency residential service calls throughout the Greensboro, NC area and surrounding communities.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving panels, circuits, breakers, lighting, outlets, GFCIs, switches, and related systems.
  • Perform home warranty service work while ensuring homeowner satisfaction through quality repairs and clear communication.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful demeanor when working in occupied homes.
  • Accurately complete service tickets, documenting diagnostics, repairs performed, materials used, and recommended next steps.
  • Ensure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and OSHA safety standards.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in clean and safe working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with service coordinators, homeowners, and field leadership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve electrical system performance and enhance the customer experience.
