About The Position

Incumbents partner with internal departments and cross-functional teams to establish the safest, most reliable, and cost-effective electric transmission infrastructure system, and may communicate with regulators, customers and other external stakeholders to advance PG&E’s objectives. Headquarter location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need. Position will require approximately 20% of travel time in work schedule. PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of engineering experience, including experience with cycle time planning of assets and strategy related to infrastructure asset development.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews outages and failures and develops long-term-strategy project proposals for substation and overhead line infrastructure. Ensures strategy is consistent, developed in concert with stakeholders (e.g. Risk Management, Transmission Compliance), and aligned with company objectives.
  • Creates data-based decision support tools to identify sustainability issues and inform asset strategy planning.
  • Oversees the engineers tasked with creating plans for specific assets. Ensures annual and strategy documents are completed and updated.
  • Develops and manages development budgets, regularly monitoring expenses against forecast, providing explanation or justification for budget items and/or variances.
  • Manages supervisors and professional employees.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, rewards and recognition.
