About The Position

Pratt Industries, Inc., a world-leading corrugated packaging manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician. The position is located at our state of the art 100% recycled paper mill in Shreveport, LA. Responsible for installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting intermediate to advanced control system problems of all electrical equipment at our Shreveport, LA Paper Mill. This equipment includes but is not limited to, plant lighting, motors, starters, motor control centers, control panels, transformers, and switches on the Paper Machine, Winder and other equipment to maintain maximum uptime. Applicant must be able to understand work orders and be able to troubleshoot electrical equipment that is not operating properly. Must be able to communicate orally with the team members, operators, management, and keep accurate records. Must be able to read multiple types of electrical measuring devices accurately. Must be able to run/bend conduit and pull wire. Technician will be required to perform additional duties as assigned. Employee will be expected to work individually and in teams. Technician must be able to direct and supervise electrical contractors when required. Plan and supervise shutdown work activities.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from two-year College in a related technical field, diploma from technical/trade school in related field, or completion of a National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) or equivalent program for the Electrical Industry.
  • Experience in the electrical construction and or maintenance of an industrial manufacturing facility is an asset.
  • Basic computer use knowledge
  • Following safe procedures and all safe workplace policies
  • Climb up steps or ladders in order to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on the equipment
  • Excellent hand and finger dexterity for the use of hand tools and powered equipment
  • Work a 12 hour rotating day/night shift schedule with additional shutdown and vacation coverage as needed

Nice To Haves

  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance of the paper manufacturing plant is an asset.
