About The Position

We are seeking experienced Electrical Commissioning Technicians to support construction and startup activities for large horsepower electric compression systems used in lift gas and unconventional oilfield operations. This role supports the installation, verification, and commissioning of electrical power systems associated with compressor packages and related equipment.

Requirements

  • Active Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical control circuits and motor control systems.
  • Experience working with medium voltage electrical systems (typically 4160V and above).
  • Experience with MCCs, transformers, and large electric motors.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience commissioning large horsepower electric compression equipment.
  • Experience working on gas lift or electric motor-driven compressor packages.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and electric motor drives.
  • Familiarity with automation systems or PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Experience working on construction or project startup teams.
  • Ability to work a rotational schedule including occasional weekend support.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, fit for duty, agility test.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify electrical installations for compressor packages and related equipment.
  • Confirm proper wiring and terminations prior to energization.
  • Verify motor rotation and phase rotation on electric motors.
  • Conduct electrical pre-commissioning checks and assist during startup activities.
  • Verify proper operation of electrical interlocks and control circuits.
  • Support commissioning activities including testing, energization, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Work with medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems including transformers, MCCs, drives, and motors.
  • Support electrical systems from incoming transformers through variable frequency drives and large horsepower electric motors.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and assist in resolving startup issues.
  • Coordinate with compressor OEMs, drive manufacturers, electrical contractors, and automation teams during installation and startup.
  • Provide oversight to ensure electrical installations meet project specifications and safety standards.
  • Participate in PSSR reviews and identify outstanding items prior to commissioning.
  • Follow all electrical safety procedures for high-energy systems.
  • Conduct pre-task safety meetings and ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
