The Electrical Construction Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and execution of the electrical scope of work on utility-scale solar construction projects. This role has full responsibility for electrical field operations, including supervision of electrical leads, journeymen, field crews, and subcontractors. The Electrical Construction Manager ensures all electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, NEC codes, quality standards, schedules, and budgets. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong field presence, decisive problem-solving, and proactive coordination across disciplines (civil, mechanical, commissioning, and project management). Working hours are variable and dependent on project needs. As a salaried manager of people and jobsite performance, this position is expected to work as necessary to ensure work is completed correctly and on schedule. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership over jobsite performance and results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman Electrician (JM) license required.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working as an Electrician in commercial, industrial, or community-scale construction environments.
  • 5–10 years of experience in the solar industry serving as a Superintendent or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading and managing field teams, including foremen, electricians, and subcontractors.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and construction safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings, specifications, and plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project sites.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and extended hours based on project demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Master Electrician license preferred.
  • Utility-scale solar construction experience.
  • Experience supporting commissioning activities and electrical system testing.
  • Familiarity with construction management and reporting tools such as Procore, Excel, or similar platforms.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • NFPA 70 certification or training preferred.
  • Experience coordinating electrical work with civil and mechanical teams on large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership of all electrical construction activities in the field.
  • Manage, mentor, and hold accountable electrical foremen, supervisors, leads, and field crews.
  • Establish expectations for productivity, safety, quality, and professionalism across all crews.
  • Maintain strong field presence to drive performance and resolve issues in real time.
  • Lead daily planning, coordination, and safety meetings.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with OSHA, NEC, and company safety policies.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and that crews are properly trained and equipped.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), site audits, and corrective actions as required.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Management, Civil, Mechanical, and Commissioning teams to align schedules and execution plans.
  • Support project schedules and ensure electrical work aligns with Mechanical Completion (MC) and energization milestones.
  • Identify risks, constraints, and field issues early; develop and implement mitigation plans.
  • Maintain daily reports, manpower tracking, production tracking, and field documentation.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and installation manuals.
  • Oversee installation of: DC collection systems AC systems Trenching and underground Cable pulling and terminations Combiner boxes Inverters MV transformers and associated equipment
  • Ensure work complies with NEC, engineering requirements, and project QA/QC standards.
  • Oversee inspections, punch list resolution, and corrective actions.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and project turnover documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate labor, materials, tools, and equipment to support uninterrupted work.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely material delivery and inventory control.
  • Supervise subcontractor performance and resolve conflicts or deficiencies promptly.
  • Forecast manpower and equipment needs in advance to meet project demands.
  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and professional job site.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and tracking of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Drive accountability for productivity, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Train and develop field leaders to improve execution and leadership capability.
