What you’ll do… We are looking to hire a detail-oriented, driven, and hands-on Electrical Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of electrical and control systems for our next-generation power generation and microgrid solutions. This role will focus on designing control panels, developing electrical schematics and BOMs, and ensuring systems are built to industry standards and best practices. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to support system integration, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to testing, validation, and commissioning activities. This individual will play a key role in improving system performance, reliability, and scalability across multiple product development and EPC initiatives. This position is based out of our Manufacturing facility in Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • 4–7 years of experience in electrical or controls engineering in an industrial, power generation, or equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing electrical control panels, including component selection and panel layout.
  • Strong understanding of control system wiring, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience developing and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for electrical systems.
  • Proficiency creating and maintaining electrical schematics using tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD software.
  • Experience designing or supporting wiring harnesses and interconnect systems for equipment or machinery.
  • Familiarity with industrial control components such as relays, contactors, circuit breakers, PLC I/O, sensors, and power supplies.
  • Ability to prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and test reports.
  • Experience supporting factory testing, validation, or commissioning activities.
  • Working knowledge of electrical standards and codes (UL, NEC, NFPA, IEC as applicable).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and support root cause analysis of system issues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams with manufacturing, operations, and field personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with generator control systems, power generation equipment, or microgrid systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming or control system integration.
  • Experience with design review processes and engineering change management (ECO/ECN).
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
  • Experience supporting UL certification or regulatory compliance activities.
  • Exposure to product development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Hands-on experience with system testing, FAT/SAT, or commissioning.
