Position Summary The Mechanical Test Engineering Intern supports the design, development, and validation of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical products for automotive transmission aftermarket applications. Working under the direction of experienced engineers, this hands-on role provides exposure to laboratory testing, vehicle testing, data acquisition, CAD modeling, prototype development, and engineering analysis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with electrical and/or hydraulic schematics preferred.
  • Exposure to data acquisition systems, LabVIEW, or automated testing systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setup and execution of component-level and system-level testing.
  • Support vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition (DAQ) activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and document test data; prepare technical summaries and reports.
  • Assist in design and modification of mechanical components and electrical systems.
  • Create and update 2D/3D CAD models and drawings in accordance with company standards.
  • Support schematic development, documentation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assist with Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and design updates.
  • Utilize inspection and test equipment to support validation and quality activities.
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures and established lab protocols.
  • Support general engineering and test projects as assigned.
