This position will provide engineering and technical support for the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) Undersea Warfare Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Department (Code 85) and associated Subsea and Seabed Warfare (SSW) stakeholders. Work will primarily occur in-person at NUWCDIVNPT, with periodic travel (if necessary to support task execution). The qualified candidate will support design and development of existing and novel Navy systems, support integration of existing equipment or software into different applications or platforms to support the warfighter, and support evaluation of weapons systems, equipment, and technologies to satisfy existing war fighting requirements. Electrical engineers will conduct support tasking enabling the US Navy to make assessments, decisions, and plans to deliver warfighting capabilities via emerging undersea technologies. They apply the theories and principles of science, physics, and mathematics to research areas, and develop solutions to technical problems. Qualified applicants will have a strong background in problem-solving and analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to rapidly assess a problem, reliable to deliver on time, quick thinking, and be able to balance the requirements of multiple stakeholders. They should preferably be familiar providing programmatic support to decision-makers at various levels, and the functionality and integration of undersea systems.
