General program information and/or position overview: The Undersea Systems Division at Leidos currently has an opening for an Electrical Engineer in San Diego, CA. Candidate will join a fast-paced team working to design and prototype embedded hardware for rugged ocean systems. Candidate will collaborate with a team of engineers to design and prototype embedded hardware, firmware, and software, and will be directly involved in design, development, and testing of system components, including circuit boards, analog and digital sensors, batteries, and power supplies. Hardware design and layout experience are greatly desired. Candidates will be able to contribute to the team at all stages of design and prototyping, from initial concept development to rapid design and testing efforts, as well as supporting manufacture of engineering prototype systems and planning and executing real-world demonstrations for customers. Primary Responsibilities: Identify engineering challenges and recommend component and/or system designs to solve them. Design, prototype, and test system components in collaboration with project leads and team members. Work within multi-disciplinary team of ocean, mechanical, material, and acoustic engineers to successfully integrate prototype components into full-scale engineering prototype systems. Contribute to component-level and system-level testing throughout development. Conduct research and testing as needed to understand and then correct component-level design and manufacturing flaws when they are found. Develop and maintain design and manufacturing documentation and procedures.
