About The Position

Montana Resources, LLC is seeking a skilled, safety-focused Electrical Engineer to support the electrical systems and infrastructure within our large-scale open pit mining operation. This position is responsible for designing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical systems that support mobile equipment, crushing systems, substations, power distribution, processing facilities, and process control networks. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, like degree or equivalent experience
  • 3–7 years of industrial or mining experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of: Three-phase power systems Medium-voltage power systems Power distribution systems (2.3kV-25kV preferred) PLC and operator interface programming (Allen-Bradley preferred) Pump system design DC and AC variable speed drives Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Knowledge of MSHA and NFPA 70 (NEC) regulations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical modeling software
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walk on uneven terrain and climb stairs/ladders
  • Lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work around heavy equipment and energized electrical systems

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, maintain, and optimize medium- and high-voltage power distribution systems
  • Support substations, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and PLC systems
  • Provide engineering support for open pit mobile equipment electrical systems
  • Maintain electrical systems for mine and mill equipment
  • Support complex instrument and electrical repairs, troubleshooting, and retrofits
  • Maintain and support process control networks and PC-based operator interfaces
  • Oversee contractors and coordinate electrical project execution
  • Manage capital and improvement projects from concept through commissioning
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs
  • Support energy efficiency and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to maintenance personnel
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA and company safety standards
  • Participate in emergency response and on-call rotations as required
  • Work safely in an active open pit mining environment
  • Travel between pit, plant, and maintenance facilities
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot energized industrial systems when required
  • Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
