About The Position

As an Electrical Field Engineer Intern, you will engage in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity while applying standard engineering techniques & procedures. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or another Engineering or Construction-related field and will be strongly considering a career in power generation or large-scale/industrial construction following graduation. Join Gemma’s growing construction team! The Electrical Field Engineer Intern is primarily responsible for supporting the Electrical team at their assigned project site. We are looking for someone who is able to read & understand drawings, understand project scheduling, and support Superintendents when needed. Candidates should possess a commitment to top quality and an unwavering work ethic, be able to identify conflicts & provide solutions, and have a vast attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Power Engineering, or another Engineering or Construction-related area of study.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft programs, particularly Excel.
  • Highly motivated individual with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics & integrity.
  • Passionate about & dedicated to high standards of safety & quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support with creation of layouts or plans based on approved schematics or drawings.
  • Evaluate base designs and specificationsto support engineering inquiries through all phases of process improvement.
  • Order material as needed and maintain a positive relationship with suppliers & vendors.
  • Create daily report to outline project progress.
  • Understand the Quantity Progress Report (QPR) as it relates to electrical installation tracking.
  • Complete Time Allocation Tool (TAT) to match QPR.
  • Complete turnover packages.
  • Track cablematics and update cable schedule.
  • Complete electrical termination packages.
  • Maintain radio communication at-site.
  • Upload & print electrical drawings for field supervisors.
  • Spot check field quantities and job progress.
  • Communicate with Engineering and Document Control to maintain current drawings.
  • Understand and track Scope of Work (SOW).
