We are seeking a skilled Electrical Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate should be experienced, self-motivated, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. This role requires strong technical abilities, professionalism, and adherence to safety standards.

Requirements

  • Identify wire sizes and colors accurately.
  • Bend conduit using hand benders; maintain required personal tools required by the company tool list.
  • Safely and effectively use power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, knockout sets, and similar tools.
  • Skilled use of all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
  • Dig trenches using hand tools or alongside equipment operators.
  • Operate two-handed tools/equipment such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and jackhammers.
  • Operate company vehicles with automatic transmissions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical lifts (electric or gas-powered).
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the current NEC and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Follow instructions and work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Uphold company values and maintain the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions, depending on job location and season (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, reaching, squatting, crawling, climbing, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking and repetitive hand/arm/finger movements.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Ability to work on ladders of various types up to 14’, extension ladders, or relocate a 12’ step ladder independently.
  • Combined body weight and tools must not exceed ladder ratings (Class 1: 250 lbs.; Class 1A: 300 lbs.).
  • Capable of working at heights up to 60’ on ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe platforms.
  • Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces including switch rooms, tunnels, manholes, crawl spaces, and attics.
  • Wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves) at all times and any additional PPE required by the customer.
  • Ability to work 8-hour days, 40-hour weeks, with overtime and potential night shifts.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical and data experience, or equivalent training.
  • Actively working toward a journeyperson certificate or equivalent credential.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical parts and components.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office required).
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
  • Must pass background checks, screenings, and physicals.
  • Understand, follow, and enforce all safety, health, quality, and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • knowledge of fiber optics and fusion splicing is a plus.
  • experience with larger conduit bending is a plus.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all assigned tasks independently, or with an apprentice as needed.
  • Install, pull, and terminate all types of data and cable wiring, including Cat 6, coaxial, and TSP; knowledge of fiber optics and fusion splicing is a plus.
  • Complete electrical and low-voltage rough-in work with proficiency.
  • Bend conduit by hand (½" to 1¼"); experience with larger conduit bending is a plus.Proficiency with electrical and low voltage rough-in work.
  • Read blueprints and perform accurate field layout from sketches.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to troubleshoot/repair, a must.
  • Electronically submit details of work orders upon completion.
  • Handle on-call work as needed.
  • Professionally and timely communication with customers and Service Manager regarding the scope of service calls.
  • Maintain clean work areas. Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are maintained in an orderly and safe fashion.
  • Communicate with other employees and management in a professional manner.
  • Conform to company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
