About The Position

Basic Purpose: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures and related equipment in a facility. Compensation: $70,000.00 Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Essential Functions: · Maintains and repairs electrical systems, fixtures and components and all other related devices in existing facilities; makes inspections and diagnoses electrical troubles; assigns and oversees work details when required. · Install, repair, alter and maintain electrical systems and equipment throughout the installation. Must comply with the current edition of the National Electric Code. · Install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain streetlights, exterior lighting circuits, pedestal lights, aircraft ramp lighting and remote area lighting systems. · Maintains and repairs light fixtures, receptacles and switches; replaces light bulbs; maintains distribution panels; oils and cleans motors; troubleshoots and makes electrical repairs; maintains and makes minor repairs to various types of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, such as components, pumps, fans, humidifiers, electric motors, and heat exchangers. · Operates various types of equipment used in construction and maintenance of building and grounds, such as ladders, trucks, tractors, aerial high-lifts, and forklifts. · Selects, orders and checks delivered materials for compliance with specifications; advises superiors regarding electrical matters; oversees manual workers when assigned; keeps records and prepares reports. Works with consultants, engineers and suppliers on designs, troubleshooting system or equipment and system upgrades. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment; of the safety precautions necessary in the electrical trade; and of local, state and national electric underwriters code for electrical installation.
  • Ability is required to perform maintenance and repair of electrical apparatus and to keep records and make reports.
  • Ability to navigate computer systems effectively to document work order actions and input daily time accounting.
  • High School diploma and possess the appropriate licensure
  • Licensure as an Electrical Contractor with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board
  • Applicant must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Applicant must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions (Over 95 Degrees F and below 20 Degrees F)
  • Applicant must be able to work from various building heights using scaffolding, ladders and platform or aerial lift devices at heights up to 100 feet.
  • Serves a 12-month trial period

  • T1 (NACI) security clearance (eligibility for national security positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens)
  • Must have an Electrical Contractor license or a journeyman license and able to obtain a contractor’s license within the first 12 months of employment
  • Must have a NICET Level I Certification in Fire Protection Systems or obtain Level I or higher certification within the first 12 months of employment
  • Non-Exempt FLSA status
  • Considered an essential employee (work during inclement weather)
  • Available to work if called in due to an emergency
  • Must maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
