Job Description Summary: Teledyne FLIR in Bozeman manufactures synthetic single‑crystal laser materials and produces crystalline optics for the laser‑optics industry. The Crystal Growth department is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to support specialized Czochralski crystal growth systems and related infrastructure. This high‑temperature crystal growth process integrates a wide range of electrical and mechanical precision devices and processes. This role is responsible for ensuring systems operate correctly through troubleshooting and maintenance, and will also contribute to the design of next‑generation crystal growth equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field required.
  • Proven electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with RF systems.
  • Experience with control systems.
  • Strong analytical and experimentation skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn on the job.
  • Strong team player with a hands‑on, results‑driven approach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work a weekend shift rotation every 4-5 weeks.
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or otherwise eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.

Nice To Haves

  • LabVIEW programming experience a plus.
  • SolidWorks drafting experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reliability of crystal growth production equipment, machinery, and infrastructure; perform preventive maintenance and repair issues to prevent production delays.
  • Design, build, and implement next‑generation custom production equipment and infrastructure to improve value, performance, and reliability.
  • Oversee installation of new equipment and systems to ensure compliance with electrical and building codes.
  • Provide hands‑on crystal growth production support as needed, including participation in a monthly weekend shift rotation to monitor crystal growth processes.
