Electrolyte R&D Intern (Spring/Summer)
About The Position
Position Overview: Solid Power is seeking a Electrolyte R&D Intern to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate is currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies focused on materials, chemistry, engineering or related field. The Electrolyte R&D team specializes in research and development of solid-state electrolytes, including development of new materials, and improvements and modifications of production materials. This role will work alongside scientists to develop skills in solid-state electrolyte synthesis and characterization.
Requirements
- Currently p ursuing a Materials Engineering , Chemical Engineering , Chemistry, or related d egree from an accredited college/university
- Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment is
- Availability to work 15-20 hours during the Spring and Summer semesters
Nice To Haves
- Experience in material characterization techniques is a plus ( XRD, EIS, FTIR , DSC/TGA, Raman, SEM /EDS )
- Experience in synthetic chemistry is a plus
- Experience with statistical and relevant software ( design of experiments (D.O.E.) a plus )
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization and synthesis is preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
Responsibilities
- Work closely with and under the direction of s cientists to execute planned experimentation aimed at modifications and improvements to solid-state electrolytes
- Assist s cientists in material synthesis, characterization, data acquisition and analysis
- Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team
- Perform regular and required housekeeping such as lab and glassware cleaning
- Always follow all facility and laboratory safety rules and regulations, e nsur ing safe h andl ing and proper disposal of hazardous materials and equipment
