About The Position

Electromechanical Maintenance Technician The Electromechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and production equipment. This position supports both electrical and mechanical systems used in the manufacturing process, including motors, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and automated equipment. Whirlwind’s goal is to provide fabricated structures for families, congregations, and businesses in the most efficient manner while maintaining a safe work environment. The role of the Electromechanical Maintenance Technician is critical to maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting efficient production operations. · Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing equipment. · Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform corrective repairs to restore equipment operation. · Perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and internal maintenance schedules. · Troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, chains, conveyors, sensors, limit switches, and industrial electrical components. · Assist in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and work with control specialists when automation issues occur. · Perform installation and alignment of mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, couplings, sprockets, and chains. · Inspect equipment regularly to identify wear, misalignment, or potential failures. · Troubleshoot electrical circuits including motors, relays, contactors, VFDs, sensors, and control panels. · Support installation of new equipment and modifications to existing machinery. · Work closely with production personnel to minimize downtime and ensure safe equipment operation. · Perform breakdown analysis and assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures. · Maintain documentation of maintenance work performed, repairs completed, and parts used. · Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and identifying critical spare requirements. · Follow all company safety procedures and ensure equipment safety devices are functioning properly. · Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency. · Complete special maintenance projects as assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or GM of Maintenance

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems including 480V/3-phase equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and mechanical drive systems.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in manufacturing equipment.
  • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with motor drives such as Allen Bradley, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar systems.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical failures such as bearing failures, misalignment, or drive system issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple maintenance issues simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and following safety procedures.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in industrial maintenance or related electromechanical field preferred.
  • Standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required.
  • The position requires mobility to access machinery, equipment platforms, and various work areas throughout the plant.
