About The Position

The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for performing skilled work related to the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment within Spartech manufacturing facilities. This includes preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency. The Electromechanical Technician focuses on inspections, data analysis, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime. Key duties include applying diagnostic techniques, analyzing data to identify issues, maintaining equipment, collaborating with teams on reliability strategies, and working within an established CMMS system to meet safety, quality, and reliability standards and expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a certified technical training program or apprenticeship in electrical maintenance
  • Valid electrician certification or license
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical technician experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of electrical systems from 24VDC to 480VAC, including motors, PLCs, and power distribution.
  • Electrical Tools & Equipment: Proficient with using electrical testing devices, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues.
  • Compliance: Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other safety protocols.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues in the English language.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Shift Work: Ability to work a shift work schedule as assigned.
  • Testing: Ability to pass a Spartech administered Electrical Technician test to demonstrate required level of competence.

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Repair: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems/mechanical systems, wiring, fixtures, and power equipment.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Use testing devices and diagnostic tools to identify and locate faults and malfunctions in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Maintenance & Safety: Conduct routine inspections, perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems/mechanical systems, and ensure all work adheres to safety standards and codes.
  • Component Replacement: Replace defective electrical components, such as wiring, switches, and fuses.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals, and follow electrical codes and regulations.
  • CMMS: Utilize CMMS system for Work Orders, removing parts from the storeroom, and documenting PM work and findings.
  • Tool & Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools and power tools, including diagnostic equipment and machinery.
