Job Description Reporting to the Production Manager, this position will assemble, solder, and perform basic tests for subassemblies, optical assemblies, CCD based detectors, and other scientific instruments in a clean room environment within our ISO-9000 production facility.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electro/mechanical assembly and test environment.
  • Prior microscopic/ precision assembly experience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience with ERP Systems
  • Experience with ISO-9001

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-610 or J-STD-001 certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assemble intricate mechanical assemblies and subassemblies with precision tools and fixtures.
  • Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points, using crimping, welding, wire bonding or related bonding procedures and equipment.
  • Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
  • Performs on-line go-no-go testing and inspection, using magnifying devices, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
  • Measures parts to verify dimensional specifications using precision measuring devices.
  • May set up and operate machinery to modify parts.
  • Input data into, and extract data from, various production and company databases and ERP systems.
  • Read work orders, drawings, and procedures regarding duties to be performed.
  • Participate in cross-training activities.
  • Identify problems with documentation and initiate corrections and improvements for new and existing products and methods.
  • Assist in transferring new product assemblies, instruments from product development into production.
