About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Phantom Works is seeking a Comms & Sensor Systems Engineer/Scientist (Level 2 or 3) to join the Phantom Works Special Technology Integration team in Mesa, AZ. The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of electromagnetic systems, components, and applied physics; have significant knowledge and experience with implementing real-time embedded hardware, firmware, and software; have strong analytical skills and knowledge & proficiency with physical modeling and simulation tools; and knowledge of advanced math & system modeling principles as applied to aerospace and electrophysical analysis. Position Responsibilities: Interpret highly dynamic or uncertain requirements to develop flexible embedded hardware & software systems within aggressive program schedules & budgets Remain application & product focused while simultaneously executing multiple technical aspects of vertically integrated designs Balance systems/software engineering best practices with cost, schedule, and system performance requirements Apply systems-level thinking and agile design practices to advance embedded system architectures Perform control system logic/algorithm, hardware, and software development tasks Provide end-to-end systems integration, test, and field support Work under experienced electrophysics engineer/scientists, software, and hardware engineers in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Take ownership of tasking from start to finish and demonstrate consistent initiative with ambiguous or unclear assignments Maintain project planning of assigned sub-tasks; decomposing milestones, reporting progress, estimating completion, and communicating help needed Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Level 2: 2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors degree OR work-related experience with a Masters
  • Level 3: 5+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelor degree OR 3+ years of work-related experience with a Masters degree OR 3+ work-related experience and a PhD
  • 2+ years of experience with low-level software programming in C/C++, and/or Rust, etc. and version control workflows (Git, GitLab, SVN, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in high-level software development for applied physics, modeling, and/or simulation using MATLAB, Python, Julia, and/or Jupyter, etc.
  • 3+ of experience in real-time embedded systems and low-level driver development with microcontrollers, single board computers, and/or FPGAs
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Active Secret Clearance Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.
