About The Position

Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for cardiovascular procedures.

Requirements

  • One of the following criteria must be met: • CVT—RICS or RCES: High School Diploma or GED • RRT or CRT: Associate degree from an accredited respiratory therapy education program. • R.T.(R): Completion of an accredited radiography program. • Paramedic—NREMT-P: Completion of an accredited paramedic education program.
  • Maintain current BLS and ACLS certification. PALS may be required depending on unit specific needs.
  • Must possess and maintain one of the following: • Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)– Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification. • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)— Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Licensed for the state where they are employed. • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)— Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Licensed for the state where they are employed.
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R))—Valid American registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Licensed for the state where they are employed.
  • Paramedic— National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification and Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification.
  • One (1) year hospital experience in the EP Lab required.
  • Must meet all job-related duty requirements and EP Lab department specific competencies of an EP Tech I

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care
  • Delivers appropriate patient care and demonstrates competency while recognizing patient conditions, age specific needs while ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or charge if needed by the department.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in use ofstimulator and physician EP protocols.
  • Ensure the patient’s understanding of procedure performed, provides patient and family education while ensuring the patient’s needs, safety, and comfort are met while in the EP Lab.
  • Acquires patient’s clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented. Verifies report and records for completeness and accuracy of the patient involved in the study. Archives and amends demographic information to appropriate storage media.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality Images and signals for interpretation.
  • Assesses processed images for technical quality and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principals ofradiation safety and protection to minimize exposure to the patient,self, and others.
  • Provides physiological and hemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Supportsthe physician as a scrub assistant.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique.
  • Documents patient care as related to a procedural area in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards. Communicate any changes as necessary.
  • Demonstrates competency to evaluate and obtain hemostasis of a vessel post procedure.
  • Maintains clear and respectful communication with allstaff, visitors, patients, and co-workers.
  • Performs all duties as necessary to assure patientsatisfaction.
  • Ensures case turnover time to be within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing patient care.
  • Must be a superuser on at least 2 of the department’s clinical systems or specific technologies.
  • Delegates tasks and duties to team members in accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
