About Your Role: This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include developing and implementing lesson plans that align with state standards, as well as emphasizing music theory fundamentals. This role involves engaging students through interactive lessons, assessing their performance, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching methods, build strong relationships with parents and community stakeholders, and effectively communicate student progress. Additional responsibilities include representing the school at events, managing administrative tasks, and organizing student performances, with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Music Education or equivalent is required with a focus in Elementary Education is preferred.
  • A valid Colorado state teaching license/K-12 School Administration license or equivalent is required.
  • 1 + years of full-time experience as a state-issued or special services teacher preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of various educational theories, teaching strategies, and instructional methods and can tailor those as appropriate for elementary students.
  • Expert knowledge of music educational practices and can tailor instruction specifically designed for children ages 5 - 14.
  • Basic knowledge of child psychology and the physical, social, and cognitive developmental stages, and can tailor instruction for children aged 5-14 based on this knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge in educational technology and digital tools, and uses this knowledge to enhance learning experiences.
  • Intermediate knowledge of state and national curriculum standards and can align classroom activities to these benchmarks effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of educational communication and can effectively communicate with students, parents, guardians, colleagues, and administrators both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced knowledge in classroom management and can establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge in student engagement and can develop and use creative approaches to teaching that stimulate students' interest and participation
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Advanced knowledge in classroom management and can identify, analyze, and effectively solve problems that arise in the classroom or in the school environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge in instruction differentiation and can understand and be sensitive to the needs and challenges of individual students, including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Advanced educational communications knowledge and can collaborate and work with other teachers, support staff, and school administrators to foster a cooperative working environment as well as with families and students.
  • Basic knowledge of Leader In Me and 7 Habits materials and can integrate these philosophies into daily instructional methods.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s Degree or higher is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement social emotional learning in alignment with the school's program and integrate thoughout the instructional day.
  • Prepare, develop, and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance instructional materials, teaching methodologies, and progress towards building goals.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities to ensure educational goals are met.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
  • Monitor and assess student performance through observation and formal assessments, providing constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution among students and monitor their social and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and dynamic classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters a love for education.
  • Effectively manage student behavior, enforce school rules and policies, and address student issues related to health, conduct, and progress.

  • Complete required administrative tasks, including grading and preparing progress reports, and organizing and leading student performances and concerts.
  • Utilize technology to prepare instructional materials, enhance instructional delivery, and engage students in the learning process.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
