Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking Elementary School Assistant Principals to join our growing school division for the 2026-2027 School Year! Working alongside the Principal, Assistant Principals provide leadership and support for the school's staff and students. The Assistant Principal plays a vital role in ensuring a positive learning environment, maximizing student achievement and implementing the total school program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement, or provisional endorsement, as a Principal
  • Three (3) years of successful, full-time, teaching experience; two (2) in the level of education for which considered

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the school when the principal is absent from the building
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Collaborates with the principal in matters relating to the formulation and execution of school policies, processes, and routines
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Assists the principal in the implementation, supervision and evaluation of the total school instructional program, including serving as the test coordinator for all federal and statewide assessments
  • Assists the principal in the selection, assignment, orientation, and evaluation of staff
  • Promotes good working relationships among staff members
  • Supervises and coordinates staff non-primary duty assignments
