About The Position

Embedded Software Developer The Opportunity: As an electrical engineer, you understand the workings behind complex systems. That knowledge is key when it comes to developing the hardware and software required for controls or control equipment. We’re looking for an engineer who can use their skills to design and develop operator interface modules, controls architecture, and other electronic components. At Booz Allen, you’ll use your engineering skills to transform S&T projects into system prototypes. Our team conducts research and development, test and evaluation, prototype development, and deployment sustainment support to client systems. That’s why we need you, an engineer with both hardware and software expertise, to help us design and develop innovative solutions and systems for the DoD. On our team, you’ll design, build, test, and analyze electronic equipment and control systems. We’ll look to you to share your engineering expertise through leadership and mentoring junior staff. This is a chance to use your experience-based knowledge in electrical and software development while broadening your skill set into areas like pulsed power engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, and systems engineering. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in software development and with embedded systems
  • Experience with programming languages such as C or C++ and Python
  • Experience with low-level development, including interrupt handlers, device drivers, controlling peripherals, and reading and writing flash memory
  • Experience with digital and analog control systems, power electronics, electromagnetic interference (EMI) techniques, and radio frequency (RF)
  • Experience conducting basic and applied research and learning new technologies
  • Experience troubleshooting circuits and systems
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, analyze client requirements, and translate those tasks into deliverables with little to no supervision
  • Ability to work on-site in indoor labs and outdoor test ranges
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience working across varying computer architecture and operating systems
  • Experience with signal generation, high-powered RF systems, signal processing, bench and system-level testing of electronics components, and RF system and platform integration
  • Experience with high-power microwave or RF testing and evaluation
  • Experience with Docker containers, including CI/CD pipelines
