About The Position

The Embedded Software Engineer Intern at Flightwave Aerospace supports the development of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) through hands-on contributions to hardware, firmware, and embedded software projects. In this role, you will assist with implementing and validating new features across microcontroller and embedded Linux platforms, write and test embedded code in C/C++/Rust, develop Python tools for automation and debugging, support hardware bring-up and sensor integration, and collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, systems, and test engineering teams to advance product development from prototype through validation. This 6 month internship position offers structured mentorship and exposure to the full embedded product lifecycle while enabling meaningful technical contributions to production drone systems.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any related field or Bachelor’s degree in progress in these fields.
Embedded programming skills: 1+ year(s) of Experience with C, C++, or Rust demonstrated through coursework, projects or prior internships
Python Experience
Embedded Linux and/or Microcontroller development experience
Git/version control Experience
Clear communication skills
Ability to work in fast-paced environments
