About The Position

The Embroidery Machine Operator is responsible for operating a semi-automatic sewing machine with multiple-sewing heads, to create a variety of embroidered logos and decorative designs on fronts, backs, middles, peaks, and other panels of customized headwear products.

Requirements

  • Previous embroidery skills and experience in a production environment preferred.
  • Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Visual Acuity.
  • Strong attention to detail, includes identifying colors, sizes, quantity and label information.
  • Mathematical skills including ability to read a ruler.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to consistently reach minimum production requirements.
  • Enthusiastic, positive person who embraces work with a sense of urgency and persistence.
  • Ability to walk and stand for an 8-10 hour shifts.
  • Manual dexterity to grasp, pinch, and pull.
  • Ability to lift or carrying up to 35 lbs. may be required in order to meet daily requirements.
  • Ability to see and distinguish words, colors and shades.
  • Ability to stoop, reach, handle and manipulate objects and materials.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Dress appropriate, apparel may not contain offensive language or images.

Responsibilities

  • Operates semi-automatic sewing machine with multiple-sewing heads, which includes:
  • Placing spools of thread on the required spindle of each sewing head and draws thread through machine, guides, tensions, and eye of needle while adjusting thread tension for each sewing head.
  • Changing bobbins and rewinding bobbin thread onto an extra set during the operation.
  • Maintaining proper bobbin tension on bobbin casings.
  • Oiling bobbin hooks and changing needles daily.
  • Depressing start/stop button to start or stop the machine.
  • Loading/Unloading each cap appropriately onto/off a hoop that is properly attached to a corresponding sewing head.
  • Understanding of Work Order system to: determine the type and location of embroidery, as well as thread colors and color sequence needed and retrieve embroidery files noted on work order and upload it into embroidery machine for each run.
  • Responsible for ensuring embroidered headwear meets company’s quality guidelines. This includes:
  • Observing sewing operation and detecting defects in stitching, such as looping, gaps, and frays, that indicate machine malfunction.
  • Counting parts, checking for cloth defects, checking for proper taping and cover stitches, and separating parts by sizes.
  • Utilizing cleaning tools with cleaning fluid to remove any dirt, oil, or other stains from any embroidered panel.
  • Utilizes supplies such as threads, tear-away paper, foam, and glue to complete decorated orders.
  • Continuous and timely communication with team members and supervisor when order issues arise.
  • May have the opportunity to be cross trained in other departments.
  • Other duties may be assigned as workload requires.
