About The Position

The primary duty is providing direct patient care in a high-volume emergency setting. Key tasks include: Diagnostic & Treatment: Making preliminary diagnoses, directing treatments, prescribing medications, and arranging specialized care or referrals. Critical Care Management: Managing critical patients requiring immediate decision-making, including those with complex conditions like septic shock, cardiopulmonary shock, and end-stage renal disease. Trauma & Stabilization: Stabilizing and transferring major trauma cases (e.g., penetrating wounds, hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury) for both pediatric and adult patients. Life-Saving Procedures: Performing advanced airway management (endotracheal and Rapid Sequence Intubation) and serving as a first responder for "code blue" activations. Psychiatric Care: Recognizing and providing initial treatment for acute psychiatric problems and emergencies, such as suicide. Advanced Practice Consultation: Providing clinical consultation and assistance to Physician Assistants (PAs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in the Urgent Care department.

Requirements

  • Must be ABEM (American Board of Emergency Medicine) or AOBEM (American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine) certified. Recent residency graduates may be board-eligible.
  • Completion of a U.S. residency in Emergency Medicine.
  • Must maintain a valid, unrestricted DEA license for Schedules II–V. Candidates must not have any history of medical license suspension or loss.
  • Physicians must be respectful of Navajo culture, including language barriers and traditional native ceremonies. This includes embracing traditional medicine providers who may be on staff.
