The Emergency Shelter Case Manager (ESCM) plays an integral role in the heart of our emergency shelter services at Mel Trotter Ministries. Working under the guidance of the Guest Services Coordinator and the Senior Director of Guest Services, the ESCM collaborates closely with guest service teams and interdisciplinary partners to deliver trauma-informed and guest-centered case management. This exciting position is focused on providing ongoing support to residents who need help navigating the path toward stability but aren't enrolled in a formal program. Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting guests with individualized goal progression, housing navigation, and resource access, helping them move toward safe, sustainable housing tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, you'll play a crucial part in maintaining operational excellence by ensuring accurate documentation within HMIS, upholding data integrity, and supporting reporting and grant-related data needs. To excel as an Emergency Shelter Case Manager (ESCM) at Mel Trotter Ministries, candidates should possess a rich skill set tailored for supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or equivalent years of experience in a relevant role will also be considered. Proficiency in trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques is essential, along with a minimum of three years of experience working with underserved populations. Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite and a strong foundation in HMIS will facilitate effective case management. Additionally, proficiency in information management software platforms, or the ability to quickly learn them, is crucial. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple projects simultaneously. Equally important is the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while communicating Mel Trotter’s vision professionally and passionately, ensuring that every guest receives the care and support they deserve.

Requirements
