The Tucson Fire Fleet Management Division is proud to be certified as an ASE Blue Seal Repair Facility. The Emergency Vehicle Technician is part of this team dedicated to providing service solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations. With a specialized fleet of emergency response vehicles, the Tucson Fire Department provides the latest technologies, training, and industry certification opportunities to keep the fleet management team and the fleet at the forefront of the industry. This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 3 or higher vehicles, or construction equipment, or mining equipment and requires the ability to work in a busy environment, on-call on a rotating schedule, weekends and holidays as needed. The position requires a City of Tucson Forklift Operator certification along with continued education and renewal, ability to read, write, communicate, and follow oral and written instructions in the English language, and have a rollaway toolbox with a full set of tools required to perform journey level maintenance and repairs on Class 3 – 8 vehicles. The Emergency Vehicle Technician classification is included in a skill-based pay plan which provides compensation for achieving and maintaining 28 ASE and EVT certifications required for this position as listed below. · ASE: Master Automotive Technician (A1 – A9) · ASE: Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician (T1 – T8) · EVT: Master Fire Apparatus Technician (F1 – F6) · EVT: Master Ambulance Technician (E0 – E4) Employees in this classification are required to progress through the levels of certification in a consecutive manner.
