About The Position

The EMT- Basic is responsible for the working knowledge of the ambulances, emergency equipment and supplies that are used on each ambulance. EMTs are to maintain all units and equipment in clean and working order and maintain ambulance service headquarters in a clean and orderly manner. EMTs abide by written dress code as described in departmental policy. They are to maintain patient confidentiality as described in established policy. Out of department responsibilities: Emergency Department Technician is responsible for performing assigned duties within the scope of their approved job description. EMTs are to obtain continuing education units necessary for recertification as appropriate, as established by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Must follow policies and procedures for patient care as established by Wabash General Hospital, Wabash General Ambulance Service, and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) license in the State of Illinois
  • BLS and PHTLS preferred
  • Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment motor vehicle record (MVR) review
