About The Position

Pre-hospital: The EMT (Critical Care) functions as defined by New York State Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services certification standards. Performs all duties as outlined by local Medical Control Protocols. Hospital: The EMT (Critical Care) performs various duties as outlined in the Job Description and assists staff nurses and physicians in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the Medical Center. All ambulance calls will take priority over the assignment. Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital boasts 300 inpatient beds, inpatient acute rooms that are all private, and a Skilled Nursing Facility. The main hospital sits on a plush 45-acre campus complete with ponds and walking paths. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent work experience, including ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology.
  • New York State EMT Critical Care certification required, however official State provided documentation of a passing exam will be honored up to 3 months of date exam was taken
  • On-line status in Mountain Lakes Region required prior to start of orientation.
  • Has current and maintains AHA BLS certification or current non-AHA BLS card will be honored up to date of renewal.
  • Meets requirements of pre-employment screening and physical.
  • Holds a valid U.S. Driver's license.
  • Meets requirement to drive an ambulance.
  • EVOC or equivalent within a year of hire.
  • As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of patients for which care is being provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an EMT Critical Care preferred.
