About The Position

Your job is more than a job. The Endoscopy Reprocessing Technician is responsible for cleaning and high-level disinfection of a variety of endoscopes and accessories. Maintains Quality Assurance (QA) and tracking data logs, stores instruments, and stock supplies. Provides support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related devices and equipment per manufacturer and organizational instructions and adheres to all infection control policies at the organization. Assists with the care and preparation of endoscopy patients, as well as endoscopic procedures and activities under the supervision of the attending physician. Your Everyday Gastrointestinal Procedure Support Provide technical and clinical support for diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures. Verify availability and functionality of equipment for scheduled procedures and coordinate ordering and replacement of necessary supplies. Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures and complete required procedural documentation. Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment following each procedure in accordance with infection control protocols. Endoscope Reprocessing & Equipment Management Clean, disinfect, dry, and properly store a variety of endoscopes and endoscopic accessories in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and infection control standards. Operate and maintain automated endoscope reprocessing equipment using approved procedures and recommended parameters. Inspect endoscopes to ensure optimal performance and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor. Identify, label, and track instruments for processing and high-level disinfection expiration. Monitor equipment functionality and determine when repair or replacement is necessary. Maintain accurate patient records and quality control documentation. Store instruments and supplies using proper stocking and inventory control techniques. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in compliance with infection control policies. Procedure Preparation Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, ensuring comfort, safety, and adherence to pre-procedure protocols. Set up and organize supplies and instruments to ensure efficient procedural flow. Performance Improvement & Compliance Participate in and document assigned performance improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, infection control policies, patient safety guidelines, and HIPAA requirements. Actively promote adherence to regulatory and quality standards within the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience
  • Knowledge of infection control principles including proper cleaning and disinfectant techniques
  • Attention to detail and the ability to use equipment and tools safely and correctly

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program
  • 1 year of work experience in health care, supply management, or operating department or procedure room experience
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or CBSPD
