The Endoscopy department offers upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for esophageal, stomach and duodenal disorders, wireless capsule endoscopy and balloon-assisted enteroscopy for intestinal disorders, colonoscopy for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for colonic disease, and ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound for pancreatic and biliary disorders. As an Endoscopy Technician on the team, you will perform standard endoscopic procedures with exceptional attention to detail. Our experience from treating a high number of patients leads to accurate testing and treatments that improve patients’ quality of life. This is a regular PRN position with caregivers working days between 7:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m., with an expectation of working a minimum of three to four days per week.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of experience in a hospital setting

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician with all endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopies and EUS.
  • Complete all documentation logs and records.
  • Assist the RN with patient care, including admission of patients, setting up rooms, transporting patients, patient recovery and final cleaning of rooms.
  • Stock all rooms with equipment and supplies and maintain proper procedures for the cleaning and storage of endoscopes.
  • Change chemical sterilant and clean scope washer according to policy.
  • Prepare and send out scopes for repair after notifying director.
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel to all in room procedures and to the process for cleaning and disinfection of scopes.
  • Perform clerical duties if needed in the absence of the scheduler.
  • Transport specimens according to policy using universal precautions.
  • Make pre-op calls to patients to obtain preliminary information.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and make full use of existing resources.
