About The Position

This position requires an employee to work between 20-25 hours per week during the school semesters, and 40 hours per week during summer, not to exceed 1,500 hours in a calendar year. Each semester, undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and graduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. INTERN GUIDELINES: Students who have completed at least one year of college and are enrolled as a full-time student may apply. Must be enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program. A student’s intern position will end within three months after graduation. Pay Rate: Work Schedule: Job Description: PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Supervisor – Energy Services or designee, responsible for monitoring and supporting demand response, rebates, interconnection and other customer programs within Energy Services. Provides hands-on experience while gaining knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency for both homes and businesses by analyzing electric, natural gas and water usage data to provide conservation and efficiency recommendations. Duties include responding to customer inquiries by phone, email and in person; Prepares electric, natural gas and water usage reports and lighting worksheets for commercial accounts; analyzing individual customer usage for energy and water efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of college is required.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university working towards a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sustainability, Environmental Affairs, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F).
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Working knowledge of all office procedures, practices, and equipment.
  • Proficient in navigating Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to: Communicate well with a high degree of sensitivity to the public both written and verbally.
  • Work effectively with Utility’s staff, customers, and community partners, applying customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality to ensure necessary security of utility and customer data.
  • Perform detailed oriented tasks to track, analyze, and resolve issues.
  • Effectively handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Learn specific computer programs (CIS, Workday)
  • Ability to successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms.
  • Maintain adherence to all company policies.
  • Develops skills in communication and customer service by working directly with customers, businesses and community groups.
  • Typically, sedentary work.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required.
  • Performs bending and stooping for filing purposes.
  • New hires are informed of the requirements of the Internship upon hire, and incumbents must continue to meet the requirements each semester in order to continue employment.
  • Interns who do not meet the requirements may be ineligible for the internship and their employment may be terminated.
  • Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
  • Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of progressively responsible experience in business, administrative support, and/or general office work is preferred.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and oversight of the CU Peak Rewards program by verifying and updating enrollments, sending communications, processing incentives and tracking program performance metrics.
  • Review and assist in the approval of rebate applications, manage and organize incoming paper rebate applications for submission to rebate processing vendor.
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email or in person; manage the Energy Services department phone line and support Energy Services Specialists with customer communications.
  • Assist Energy Services Specialists in creating bill adjustments for program incentives.
  • Collect, review, and analyze individual customer usage data to identify trends, and opportunities for energy and water efficiency improvements; prepare customized electric, natural gas, or water usage reports for commercial customers.
  • Collaborate with the Energy Services department to identify and prioritize energy and water savings initiatives by researching current programs, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Compile and report customer program statistics and rebate totals to the Supervisor – Energy Services or designee.
  • Maintain and organize Energy Services resource materials, tools and promotional products.
  • Assists in program research, development of implementation plans, outreach efforts, and education initiatives; contribute actionable recommendations for continuous program improvement based on industry insights.
  • Provides administrative support to the Energy Services department, including document preparation, data entry and coordination of internal processes.
  • Additional responsibilities include the ability to track program performance; conducting program research and benchmarking for energy efficiency and renewable programs; creating bill credits for program incentives and reviewing and updating marketing materials.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
