This position is fully onsite in Cleveland, OH POSITION PURPOSE/MISSION: To lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of energy performance across industrial operations by managing metrics, audits, ISO 50001 systems, and stakeholder engagement. Accountable for identifying cost-saving opportunities, overseeing performance reporting, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to meet organizational energy, cost, and sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy engineering or related field.
  • Five years’ experience working on energy conservation projects (heavy industrial preferred)
  • Experience in administering ISO 50001 Energy Management system (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical industrial systems, such as: Thermal Processes, Compressed Air, Dust Collection, Air Make-up units, Pumps and Fans.
  • Ability to understand/read engineering drawings and process diagrams.
  • Ability to provide team leadership.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills in engaging with others, learning their area of business, and influencing behaviors to create a culture of compliance.
  • Applicant should have strong writing skills and be comfortable with public speaking.
  • Project Management skills in leading large multiple discipline projects.
  • Analytical skills in analyzing data and providing solutions.
  • Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the advanced features of Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Energy Manager certification is preferred
  • Masters Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5-7 years’ experience (heavy industrial preferred)
  • Strong energy data analytics and audit skills
  • Prior experience in Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma projects.
  • Experience with steel mill or foundry operations and maintenance.
  • Skilled in a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the aspects of the Energy Management System following ISO50001 principles.
  • Collaborate closely with end-users to build strong relationships and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain energy performance indicators (EnPIs), baselines, and improvement targets in alignment with operational goals.
  • Track, Monitor and analyze energy data across company’s facilities and identify and prioritize areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the integration of energy monitoring software and dashboards.
  • Lead and execute energy assessments and audits across industrials systems and processes, to identify potential opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
  • Drive energy management strategies to meet organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop capital projects and perform technical due diligence on proposed energy conservation measures to support the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Assist the financial team in monthly reports, budgeting for plant energy costs and measurement & verification (M&V) strategies for validation of energy savings post implementation.
  • Coordinate internal efforts to support the success of demand response, reliability or any utility related programs.
  • Lead the plant energy teams to achieve organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with site energy engineers to standardize practices, share best practices, and support consistent execution of energy initiatives.
  • Design and deliver training programs to build employee awareness of energy management standards, operational controls, and best practices for improving energy performance in their respective areas.
  • Promote synergy between cost reductions and energy improvements.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes in energy management.
  • Work with state and federal agencies to maximize training and resources available to improve energy efficiency.
  • Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
