About The Position

Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, was formed to develop and offer a next-generation streaming platform for the entire entertainment industry. The company consists of three primary lines of business: Xumo devices, Xumo Play, and Xumo Enterprise. Powered by Comcast’s global entertainment platform, Xumo devices feature a world-class user interface with universal voice search capabilities, making it easy for consumers to find and enjoy their favorite streaming content. Xumo Play is a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service offering hundreds of linear channels and on-demand options. Xumo Enterprise provides tools and services for content creators, distributors, and advertisers to make FAST content more accessible. Job Summary Responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure for video streaming services and web applications at Xumo. Partners closely with backend, client, video, and data science engineering teams to analyze, test, deploy, and integrate applications and services. Automates operational tasks and documents system configurations and processes. Supports development teams and assists with training non-technical personnel. Has solid experience and practical knowledge of DevOps tools and practices. Job Description Additional Info: Position is office based in Irvine, CA (4 days in office & 1 day remote).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
  • Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Designs and maintains cloud infrastructure environments, supports platforms under development, and enhances current DevOps tooling and pipelines.
  • Assists with automated deployment processes, CI/CD improvements, and release roll-outs while collaborating closely with teammates across engineering and operations.
  • Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
  • Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including infrastructure designs, IaC modules, runbooks, evaluation plans, monitoring dashboards, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Monitors and evaluates competitive technologies, cloud services, and DevOps products.
  • Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Provides technical leadership throughout infrastructure and deployment design processes and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.
  • Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level DevOps Engineers.
  • Works with Quality Assurance, development teams, and platform teams to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
  • Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.
  • Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
